NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Poor health hasnt robbed Gregg Allman of his sense of humor.
Just as it seemed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member was finally over the effects of his liver transplant two years ago, hes been forced to delay his upcoming book tour to promote his new memoir, My Cross to Bear, for heart tests.
But in a phone interview Thursday afternoon he seemed in good spirits as he described his latest health problem.
Its just one of those make-sure tests, you know, Allman said. My heart goes into A Fib (atrial fibrillation) and does those beats — you know, instead of going du-dun, du-dun, du-dun, it goes ta-da-dat-ta-da-doot-doot. Theres a little reggae...

CHICAGO — Philadelphia coach Doug Collins said Friday he wasnt concerned with what 76ers guard Evan Turner recently said about the Chicago Bulls being a better matchup than the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs.
I didnt look at any comments like that, said Collins, whose 76ers open their series against the Bulls at noon Saturday in Chicago. You know what? Ive never gotten into the comments. Ive said at this point and time, guys are great, great players. Ive never been one for bulletin board material. I just havent. I dont know what he said.
Ive usually been pretty quiet. I let sleeping giants rest a little bit. I dont like to get them all fired up.

MIAMI — With the Miami Heat and New York Knicks set to start the most highly anticipated first-round series of the NBA playoffs Saturday, it could only mean one thing.
Its now officially hunting season in South Florida.
At least according to Amare Stoudemires calendar. It was five months ago inside a festive New York locker room after a preseason game when Stoudemire jokingly declared during a candid conversation with a teammate that the Knicks would eventually go big-game hunting in Miami.
You know what were going to hunt down there, right? Stoudemire reportedly told rookie Josh Harrellson, an avid outdoorsman. Were going to hunt LeBron...

Tuesday night, when the Warriors dug down deep to drop a must-lose game, there was one honest man in the building.
As the horn sounded ending the Warriors dramatic 81-83 come-from-ahead loss to the New Orleans Hornets, somebody near the Warriors bench set off a confetti bomb.
Sure, it could have been a New Orleans fan. But who would waste a cool confetti bomb celebrating a win that was meaningless to the Hornets?
It had to be a Warriors fan whooping it up over a clutch loss that kept his team in contention to finish in the leagues bottom seven and up its chances of hanging onto its first-round draft pick.
At least one person, Confetti Man, had the presence of mind...

Over the past decade, Ive travelled a great deal; most of the time I plan my own trips which involve a great deal of time online and studying guide books like the Lonely Planet series. The planning can be enjoyable; but often the results can be mixed.
This is because guide books are generally out of date as soon as theyre printed – at least in terms of accommodations and restaurants; most dont give information on local tours – you have to show up to many attractions and hope they have tours in English. Also theres always the unexpected – things you cant plan for.
If youre a single traveller there is always the loneliness factor. Most single travellers agree...
